Dan Koop is an Artist, Producer and Facilitator working in performance, public art and arts organisations.

As an Artist he makes performance works in unusual and public spaces that engage audiences to become participants.

As a Producer he has worked for contemporary multi artform venues and festivals in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane and London.

As a Facilitator he has curated and hosted public programs and worked with emerging artists and artsworkers.

Biography

Dan Koop is an Artist, Producer and Facilitator working in public and unusual spaces. Creatively, he makes performance works in unexpected and public spaces that engage audiences to become participants. Professionally, he has worked for contemporary multi artform venues and festivals in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane and London. As a Facilitator, he has hosted conferences for hundreds, taught small tutorials and worked as a conduit between community groups and arts organisations. He holds a Masters of Public Art from RMIT University and is presently undertaking research for a PhD at Deakin University.

As an Artist, Dan has created collaborative works with Polyglot Theatre (2018 Shepparton Arts Festival), for Hotel Obscura (2016 FOLA), Going Nowhere (2014 Arts House) and the Green Room Award winning The Stream / The Boat / The Shore / The Bridge (2012 Next Wave).

As a Producer, Dan has worked at Battersea Arts Centre (UK), Brisbane Powerhouse, Sydney Festival, Theatre Works St Kilda and was the Creative Program Producer for the 2015-17 Melbourne Fringe Festivals. At Melbourne Fringe Dan produced the Made By Fringe program and facilitated the Artist Development Programs for emerging artists.

Melbourne Fringe commissions included Madeleine Flynn and Tim Humphrey’s Pivot (2017), a live art conversation kick-starter in the form of six talking seesaws at Fed Square, and Robin Fox’s Sky Light (2016), a city-scale sculpture and sound installation in the City of Melbourne using 16 lasers and more than 50 CBD buildings. Co-presentations include Congress by All The Queens Men (Darebin Arts 2017), The Children’s Party by Ben Landau and Alex Walker (2017 Arts House) and Kids vs Art by Field Theory (2016 Arts House).

Melbourne Fringe Artist Development Programs included Deadly Fringe (with ILBIJERRI Theatre Co & Wilin Centre), Compass Mentor Program (with Arts Access Victoria) and the Forest Exchange Lab (with The SUBSTATION, City of Maribyrnong and City of Hobsons Bay).
